1.  How do I get started?

Its simple!

1. Purchase one of our very affordable plans.

2. After filling out the download form, you will be given a link to the software. Download that file and run it on your computer.

3. As well, after downloading the software you will be emailed an activation code. This activation code must be entered to use the software.

4. After running ClickFax for the first time, you will be asked for some information used to send faxes.

5. Then, go to any Windows program and print to the "ClickFax" printer- just like you would print any document. This will bring up the ClickFax Control Panel. From there, you can choose your recipients and send your faxes!

2.  Does it work with DSL or Cable modems?

Yes! You do not need a phone line, fax machine, fax modem, or anything additional. All you need is an Internet connection of ANY sort.

3.  Do I need a modem or fax machine?

Not at all! ClickFax requires NOTHING but an Internet connection. In fact, it doesn't even have to be a dedicated Internet connection- dial-up, DSL, cable, LAN and T1 are all supported. However, if you do plan to batch print a lot of documents, a dedicated connection is highly recommended

4.  What does it cost?

Remember, ClickFax requires no additional third party software or hardware. We have many pricing plans, all designed around how you or your company sends and receives online faxes. As well, you can build your own plan!

The setup fee covers your purchase of the software, as well as free upgrades. This is a one-time fee, and will not be charged to you again.

The "fax credit" costs are pre-payment for a set number of online faxes. This is measured in one minute increments (the average length of a one-page fax transmission.)

5.  How much time does an online fax job take, and how am I charged?

The average online fax takes one minute per page. However, if you have a lot of graphics or a lot of text coverage on a page, it may take longer per page. As well, some machines receive faxes slower than others.

When thinking about the speed of our fax system, there are two things to think about:

1. If you are sending a large blast, it will only take a few minutes to send hundreds of faxes to our server. They are then sent out from our server.

2. You are charged based on the phone time for each online fax. While it may only take a few minutes to finish a large online fax job (since faxes all go out concurrently), please be aware that you will incur a charge on each fax.

6.  How long does it take for a fax to be processed?

ClickFax processes your print jobs in real time to upload documents to the master server, which ultimately handles the delivery of your document. Depending on your Internet connection, a typical one-page document is processed in a few seconds. Your document will be delivered by the master server seconds after the print job is completed.

7.  What is the ClickFax Control Panel?

This is simply the name of the software installed on your system. This is where you are able to set your options, as well as determine recipients for your faxes.

You can access the ClickFax Control Panel in one of two ways:

1. When ClickFax is running, you should see an icon in your taskbar's tray (the area on the bottom left of Windows, right next to your clock). You can click this to bring up the Control Panel.

2. in the Start Menu, under the Programs option, there is a link to "ClickFax Control Panel." Click this to bring up the Control Panel.

10.  How do I open the ClickFax control panel?

To find and adjust options in ClickFax, click on the icon in the lower right corner of Windows, next to the clock. Do not use the shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.

Once you've opened ClickFax, you should see a set of menus. Chose "Edit" then "Options." Then choose the "Software Registration" tab.

11.  Can I send a fax directly from my email program?

Indeed you can! All you need to do is send an email to [FAXNUMBER]@cfpfax.com, where [FAXNUMBER] is the full area code and phone number of the fax you are sending to.

For example, if you wish to send a fax to 1-800-999-2222, you would send an email to 18009992222@cfpfax.com.

You must send the email from the email address you signed up with, or with an email address you added as a valid send email to your account.

12.  What programs can I fax from? What file types can I use?

If you are printing to the ClickFax printer, you can use any file type that can be printed. As well, you can send a ZIP file with a set of valid file types! Our server will unzip the file and send each file as part of the fax.

NOTE: The filename of an attachment cannot have an ampersand (&) character in it!

13.  I am not receiving faxes. I am not getting email responses.

Often times receive online fax problems are caused by a misconfigured email system. What happens is a customer's email system either thinks that the specific emails from us are "spam", or that all mail from our servers are "spam".

You may first want to check any of your "spam" or "bulk" mail folders, or your spam blocker software, to make sure our emails and your faxes are not ending up in there.

If this doesn't help, unfortunately, since your email provider is erroneously blocking your faxes and our emails, there is nothing we can do to fix this without their assistance.

You need to alert your email provider to do the following:

Make sure all emails from the following domains are flagged as "not spam":

*@clickfax.com
*@pdfblaster.com
*@datafabrication.com

Make sure none of our mail servers are blocked in any way. The following is a general list of the names of our mail servers. We have hundreds of servers, but the wildcards below specify what they will be named:

*.dfhosting.com
*.datafabrication.com
*.clickfax.com
*.pdfblaster.com

Your email provider will want to put all of the above on some sort of "white list".

14.  My activation code was not accepted

If your activation was not accepted, it is most likely because of one of the following reasons:

1. If you're installing on a new computer, we may need to manually reset your account. Click here to go to our contact page. Send us your activation code and we will re-set the account.

2. You need to be connected to the Internet when you click "Save Activation Code."

3. If you are behind a firewall/proxy, you need to first go to "Edit" then "Options" then "Connection Settings." Enter your proxy information, and hit "Save and Exit."

4. You have software blocking Internet access. Make sure you've added ClickFax as an allowed program to any firewalls/proxies. If this does not work disable any programs that may be blocking Internet access.

6. You must have a valid number of licenses. If, for instance, you purchased one license and are trying to register on a second computer, you need an additional license. To add more licenses, click here to log in to your account, and go to the "Purchase Plan" button.

15.  I get an error when trying to send

Many errors (i.e. "Not enough funds to send," "Cannot connect to the Internet," "Error uploading file," or "You are in trial mode.") are actually indications of one or more of the following problems:

1. You need to be connected to the Internet when you use ClickFax.

2. If you are behind a firewall/proxy, you need to first go to "Edit" then "Options" then "Connection Settings." Enter your proxy information, and hit "Save and Exit."

3. You have software blocking Internet access. Make sure you've added ClickFax as an allowed program to any firewalls/proxies. If this does not work disable any programs that may be blocking Internet access.

16.  What are the extra charges on my account?

The recent charges were because you went over your pre-paid limit of faxes for the month. Once you go over, our system re-fills your account at a minimum amount

You can increase the minimum level charged. The default is $5 when you sign up. So what happens is when you run out of credit, the system charges you $5, which is applied to all online faxes from then on our.

You can also increase the monthly pre-paid amount. Pre-paid faxes come in at a 20% discount.

You can look up all your account information online and make these adjustments at:
www.clickfax.com/login

17.  What happens if I receive an unsolicited or spam fax?

If you receive an unsolicited spam fax, we will credit you for the fax. When you receive such a fax, please forward the entire email including the PDF file to:

spamfax@clickfax.com

We do recommend that you do not attempt to call the sender of the fax or call any number to "remove" your number. There is a chance that calling such a number will only get you put on additional lists.

We will take care of attempting to remove the number.

Unfortunately, there is no real way to "block" spam faxes, as we can't digitally "read" the fax itself. As well, most spam faxes come in with no caller ID, and you would not want to block messages with no caller ID, because many legitimate messages also do not have caller ID.

We are working on a more sophisticated system to block spam, but in the meantime please send us the fax and we will credit you.

18.  My credit card is not accepted when purchasing the program

Please make sure your zip code on the account is the billing zip code for the credit card you're trying to use. If your card does not have a billing zip code, you will need to click here to contact us so we can manually verify your card.

19.  Can I use my own telephone number to receive faxes?

At this time we cannot "re-provision" existing numbers. However, you can choose any area code or a toll-free number to be assigned.

20.  How do you fax a hard copy if it is not on my PC?

You can scan the image in and print it directly to ClickFax from your scanner software.

21.  Does it work on a Mac or Linux?

Yes!

Our ClickFax software, itself, is currently PC-only. However, you can use ClickFax on a Mac or Linux machine through our "email interface"

To send a fax on a Mac or Linux machine, simply address an email to [FAXNUMBER]@cfpfax.com. For example, to fax to 444-333-2211, you will send an email to 4443332211@cfpfax.com.

Your subject and body will be the cover letter. You can also attach as many files as you wish, and they will be sent as part of the fax as well.

You can use any email program (i.e. Outlook, etc.)

22.  Does it work under Citrix, Terminal Services, or Virtual PC?

Yes! ClickFax works in pretty much every Windows environment.

23.  How do I know my faxes have been sent?

ClickFax sends an email confirmation to you every time an Internet fax is successfully delivered to the intended recipient. By default, the ClickFax network retries every failed fax three times. After the third time, ClickFax will automatically notify you of the failed fax transmission and attach a PDF of the original fax document.

As well, at any time you can view your live fax history (successes and failures) by clicking on the file menu, and then the "View Fax History" menu item.

24.  Am I charged for faxes that do not send?

Not at all. No matter how many times ClickFax retries a fax connection, you are only charged for faxes that send!

25.  Where can I view my fax history and billing history?

Simply go to www.clickfax.com/login and enter your activation code. Then you will have many options at the very bottom of the page, including your fax history and billing history.

26.  What about international faxing?

ClickFax will work anywhere in the world. As long as you have an internet connection, you can send and receive faxes over the internet!

There are some minimal additional costs for sending faxes to countries other than the US, Canada and the UK. You can view our International Rate List at the following link:
